Each participant needs to take care of his own travel plans : plane, train, car... to come to Bordeaux and to commute within the city center. For this purpose, several useful links are available in the Useful links section. If you choose to travel with Air France (strongly suggested), please follow the instructions on the Registration page (will open soon) to obtain the Geant4 conference negotiated fares. We give herebelow indications on transportation upon arrival / departure and within Bordeaux.

Bordeaux is very well equipped with public transport (bus and tramway) and most places of interest can be reached quickly (see MAP 1 at the end of this document).

To commute on arrival from Bordeaux Merignac airport (BOD) to Bordeaux Saint Jean train station

Take the Jet’Bus shuttle at the arrival level (ground floor), hall B. Buses run every 45 minutes. It will take you to Bordeaux Saint Jean train station in about 45 min. Return fare is about 11.20 €. Please check Bordeaux Merignac airport website for updates : http://www.bordeaux.aeroport.fr/. Several rental car companies are also available at the airport ; to book, please look for the car rental companies web sites on our registration website.

To commute from Bordeaux Saint Jean train station to the airport

Take the Jet’Bus shuttle from Bordeaux Saint Jean train station. It will drive you to Bordeaux Merignac airport, hall B, arrival level.

To commute from Bordeaux train station to Hotel Mercure Château Chartrons

Take the tramway line C direction QUINCONCES at Bordeaux Saint Jean train station and leave the tramway at QUINCONCES ; change there and walk to bus stop TOURNY and take bus line 4 direction SAINT-LOUIS, stop at GAUSSEN. There, follow street RUE CONRAD GAUSSEN ; the next large street you cross is COURS SAINT LOUIS and the Mercure Chateau Chartrons is easily located at number 81 (less than 100 meters to walk). You can also pick up a taxi directly at the train station. Refer to MAP 2 and MAP 3 at the end of this document.

To commute from Hotel Mercure Château Chartrons to Bordeaux train station

Take bus line 4 direction MERIADECK at the JOURNU AUBER stop very close to the hotel main entrance (COURS SAINT LOUIS is a one way street). Stop at the TOURNY bus stop, walk to QUINCONCES and take tramway line C direction GARE SAINT JEAN ; exit the tramway at GARE SAINT JEAN. There, you may take your train or the airport shuttle.

To commute within Bordeaux

To commute within Bordeaux city, please refer to the public transportation maps and website (http://www.netbus-bordeaux.com/). Click on 'Plan du réseau' and download 'Plan de Bordeaux centre'. All necessary information can be sent by email and will be available at the Hotel Château Chartrons.

You can buy public transport tickets (bus, tramway) at each tramway stop using automatic vending machines (you can pay cash - euro coins - or use your credit card).

For those attending the whole conference, we advise you to buy the 'Tickarte 7 jours' card (price about 8.50 €) on arrival at your first tram stop. This card is valid for 7 consecutive days allowing commuting as much as you want.
